  • Fish Health Management Workshop (Printer-Friendly Flyer)

    Target audience:  Fish farmers, fish wholesalers and retailers, professional aquarists/biologists, and veterinarians
    This two-day workshop includes lectures and hands-on wet labs in basic fish health management.  A primary goal of the workshop will be to review important principles needed to keep fish healthy and appropriate responses to a disease outbreak, though many specific diseases and treatments will also be discussed.   Lecture topics include:  basic introduction to fish, fish biology, and fish physiology; introduction to fish health management principles; water quality; pathogens (parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi); treatments; and biosecurity.  Hands-on wet labs include:  water chemistry testing and analysis, fish anatomy and necropsy, and how to check for fish parasites.  The workshop will focus on freshwater systems and fish; however, important marine diseases and treatments will also be discussed.
    Cost:  $90 per person (includes all lab supplies, course notebook, and daily continental breakfast and snack)
    Pre-registration with payment is required by October 14th!
    Space is limited to 16 participants
