Florida Aquaculture Association Scholarship

The FAA scholarship fund is established to provide tuition and books only to be distributed semi-annually.  The FAA Board of Directors has established the following criteria for consideration and selection:

Applicants for consideration must:

  1. Be in the last semester of high school or in college and have a 2.5 overall GPA through current school work;
  2. Be or become a full-time degree-seeking student in the field of fisheries science, aquaculture, or aquatic biology;
  3. Provide two letters of recommendation from high school or college teachers/educators;
  4. Submit a one-page essay explaining the applicant's educational goals and reasons for desiring a scholarship;
  5. Send the application along with a copy of the applicant's transcript, recommendation letters, and essay to the FAA office by July 1 for the Fall semester and October 1 for the Spring semester.

No individual will be awarded this scholarship more than two times.  Applicants meeting these requirements will be considered at an FAA Board meeting.  The scholarship committee will weigh the applications, using GPA and other information from the application, and make a recommendation to the Board for a decision.  Applicants not meeting the above-stated minimum requirements need not apply as they shall not be considered.
