AQUACULTURE CERTIFICATION INFORMATION

WHAT IS THE AQUACULTURE CERTIFICATION?

THE AQUACULTURE CERTIFICATION IS AWARDED TO INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE COMPLETED:

  • 75% of Aquaculture 2 OR has worked on a certified aquaculture facility for over 150 hours 

  • Passed the 100 questions certification exam with a score of 60% or higher

 

UPON PASSING THE EXAM, THE FAA WILL VERIFY ALL PASSING SCORES AND WILL SEND OUT CONFIRMATION OF YOUR SCORE AS WELL AS MAIL A CERTIFICATE FOR EACH PASSING RECIPIENT. 

EXAM COSTS $95.00 PER EXAM AND $50.00 TO RETAKE UP TO THREE TIMES. AFTER THE THIRD TIME, STUDENT MUST COMPLETE AN EXPLANATION STATEMENT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A RETAKE.

Registering for the Exam

WHEN LOOKING TO REGISTER FOR THE EXAM, YOU MUST COMPLETE OUR CONTACT FORM AND FROM THERE WE WILL SEND YOU AN INVOICE FOR THE TOTAL NUMBER OF EXAMS YOU ARE REQUESTING CREDITS FOR. ONCE PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED, A LINK WILL BE SENT TO THE DESIGNATED PROCTOR AND THE LINK WILL BE ACTIVE FOR TWO WEEKS. AT THIS TIME, WE ASK YOU NOT BUY EXAM CREDITS MORE THAN TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE.

Standards for the Exam

ALL QUESTIONS FOR THE EXAMS ARE BASED OFF BOTH INDUSTRY INPUT AS WELL AS FLORIDA'S CTE BENCHMARKS FOR THE COURSES AQUACULTURE 2. EACH STANDARD THAT IS COVERED IN THE EXAM WILL BE MENTIONED IN THE STUDY GUIDE.

WHAT IS THE FLORIDA AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION?

THE FLORIDA AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION IS AN ENTRY LEVEL CERTIFICATION INTO THE AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY.

WHAT IS THE AQUACULTURE CERTIFICATION TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH?

THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THE CERTIFICATION IS TO CREATE BETTER PREPARED LABORERS TO WORK IN AQUACULTURE RELATED FIELDS. 

WHY DO WE NEED THIS?

THIS CERTIFICATION CAN HELP IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS:

  1. IT CREATES A UNIFIED VISION OF FLORIDA AQUACULTURE AND THE INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE JOB SEEKER SKILLS. 

  2. IT WILL GENERATE MORE INTEREST IN HIGH SCHOOLS AROUND THE STATE TO ADD AQUACULTURE COURSES. 

  3. IN TURN, IT WILL GENERATE MORE INTEREST INTO THE INDUSTRY AND HOPEFULLY INCREASE THE NEED FOR SUCH PROGRAMS. 

WHAT DOES THE CERTIFICATION COST AND WHO WILL RECEIVE THE MONEY?

THE CERTIFICATION WITH COST $95.00 FOR THE INITIAL TEST AND $50.00 FOR ANY RETAKES UP TO THREE TIMES. AFTER THE THIRD TIME, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO WAIT A PERIOD OF THIRTY DAYS.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE THIS CERTIFICATION? 

CURRENTLY THE CERTIFICATION IS BEING BUILT UPON THE FLDOE STANDARDS FOR THE COURSE AQUACULTURE 2 COUPLED WITH WORK EXPERIENCE. FOR INDUSTRY PERSONNEL, YOU WILL NEED A MINIMUM OF 150 HOURS OF VERIFIABLE WORK EXPERIENCE ON A CERTIFIED AQUACULTURE FARM IN ORDER TO QUALIFY TO TAKE THE CERTIFICATION.

RIGHT NOW THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO GIVE THE EXAM IS THROUGH THE ONLINE EXAMINATION PLATFORM.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RAMIFICATIONS OF NOT PURSUING AN AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION? 

LOSS OF THE AQUACULTURE COURSES AT THE STATE LEVEL.

LACK OF JOB SKILLS NEEDED TO PERFORM EVERYDAY AQUACULTURE TASKS.
